Robert, was a novice driver with no prior experience, enlisted my services to learn how to drive and successfully pass his driving test. Robert was keen to receive his driving licence as soon as possible, as it would facilitate his daily commute to work. We agreed upon an intensive driving course, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates of his lessons were rescheduled several times to comply with National and local tiered lockdowns.
After lockdown restrictions were lifted, Robert made remarkable progress throughout his training. We focused primarily on his planning skills, as he was not observing far enough ahead, which resulted in him having a limited time to identify and process information related to any potential hazards. Nonetheless, Robert’s driving skills improved significantly, and he began making informed decisions about how to react to emerging situations, which dramatically transformed his driving performance.
As there was no availability locally, we secured Robert’s driving test at the Herne Bay Test Centre. Robert continued practicing with his parents, making several trips to Herne Bay to familiarize himself with the area. Robert exhibited exceptional driving skills on the test day and passed his driving test on the first attempt with only three driver errors. This remarkable achievement demonstrates that with a ‘Can Do’ attitude, hard work, and consolidated learning, one can achieve their goals.
